As I mentioned in the last post, dogs aren’t allowed on the trails in National Parks (we did recently stumble on an exception at Olympic National Park!) and so we couldn’t hike with Rosie in the national parks we visited as I’d hoped to along our road trip. When I found this out, luckily before our trip, Andy saved the day by researching where you can hike with your dog, and as luck would have it, you can hike with them in state parks. So we included on our route State Forest State Park in Colorado. In this park were some of my favorite photo opportunities, AND we were able to hike with Rosie on the Zimmerman Lake trail. The only downside is that I guess because it is a state park, it is not as well kept, and it was nearly impossible to get to many of the trails we wanted to hike in my little low rider of a car. So we had to turn back from two hikes just because the car couldn’t make it over the unpaved and terribly uneven roads to the trailheads. Luckily Zimmerman Lake worked out because it was a gorgeous hike the perfect length for Rosie. Our campsite had a great view of the mountains, too. That one instant shot that looks all warped? Sadly my fp-100c got damp and so I got some funky results, but I think it kind of worked for some of the water shots.
